What is a Content Management System?
Published by Adam Lyttle on June 19, 2007

Comments
A Content Management System is also referred to as a Web Management System, a Web Content System or simply as CMS. Put simply, it is a system that allows the owner of a website (website administrator, webmaster, etc) to add new content, edit existing content and remove unwanted content - effectively making the pages within the site manageable.

What a content management system does..
A Content Management System allows the owner of a website to control the content of each page - including the formatting of text, layout of text, inserting images, creating links, inserting video and even embedding audio.

The better systems allow the owner of a website to restructure the entire website. This gives the site owner power and flexibility to change the entire feel of their website and the way users navigate it.

All of these changes are done within the website itself, which means there is no more need to pay a website designer every time a paragraph or word within a website needs to be changed.

What skills are required..
A content management system requires no advanced technical knowledge or programming skills. In fact, if you are capable of browsing the internet and checking your email then you are trained to use a content management system.

How to install a content management system..
Our Web Content package comes complete with an advanced content management system that is designed exclusively for the needs of any website. We install, configure and setup everything - so there is no need for our clients to know any technical skills to start using their content management system.
