I love Flickr. But I often don't have time to open the browser and manually upload photos from my memory card - which is a real shame, because there are so many photos that I could be sharing with the world. So, to overcome this problem, I have developed some software that takes the pain out of the upload process!

Introducing "Sendto Flickr"

Add Flickr to the right-click "Send to" menu in Windows.

Right click any image then select "Send to Flickr" to easily upload photos to your Flickr account. Sendto Flickr can be used with any image or photo stored on your computer, over a network or even on removable drives.
  • Adds "Flickr" to the "Send to" list in Windows
  • Uploads photos from your computer, memory cards or network drives to Flickr
  • Preview files as they are being uploaded
  • Upload multiple files at once
  • Links directly with your Flickr account
  • No browser required
  • Best of all, it's free

Sendto Flickr is a free software application designed and developed by Adamant Solutions. Free to download, free from viruses, free from spyware, free from adware and free from anything else malicious.

Authorizing "Sendto Flickr"

Sendto Flickr uses the Flickr API. You are required to authorize the program in order to give it proper permission to upload images and photos to your Flickr account.

When you install "Sendto Flickr" you will be asked to authorize the program. Simply click the "Authorize" button and then follow the prompts. You may be required to sign in using your Yahoo username and password.

Once signed in simply click the button that says "OK' I'LL ALLOW IT". You should only be required to perform this step once. If you continue to see the authorization message please contact us.

Using "Sendto Flickr"

Step 1. Right click a photo or image

So, you have found an image or photo on your computer that you would like to share on Flickr. The first thing you have to do is right click it, a popup menu will be displayed with a list of commands.

Step 2. Select "Send to"

Move your mouse to the "Send to" menu item, this will display a list of programs and folders that you can select from.

Step 3. Click "Flickr"

Move your mouse to the "Flickr" menu item and click it. This will launch the "Sendto Flickr" program and will automatically upload the photo to your Flickr account.

It is worth noting that this product is not endorsed or supported by the founders or developers of Flickr. Adamant Solutions is not associated in any way with the development, design or the running of the Flickr service. If there is any confusion please contact us.

You are the king of API Adam!

Adam Lyttle commented on January 22, 2008

Thanks Pete! :)

Trevor Carpenter commented on January 22, 2008

Huh, not bad. I've had one of these for my Mac for a bit. It's just an Automator "app". Right (ctrl)+click and presto!

Ross Hill commented on January 22, 2008

You don't have time to post to Flickr, yet you have time to write an app to do it for you - typical developer :) I can see how that would be useful. The new Flickr Uploadr on mac is almost just as easy, just drag and drop and push upload.

Adam Lyttle commented on January 22, 2008

Haha! I guess it is quite a hypocritical program! And yes, I have seen several programs for the Mac but none for Windows.

Gusto commented on January 22, 2008

Cool! I wonder if it is more stable than the flicker upload application.. Must try this now

Tanny commented on January 23, 2008

diagg commented on February 6, 2008

hi adam, do you have plan to make your sendtoflikr usable under IE context menu ? I would love to be able to pick a picture anywhere on the the web and just upload it to my flickr account by a single right click...

Adam Lyttle commented on February 6, 2008

That's a great idea diagg. The thought never occurred to me. But I will definitely look into the feasibility while working on the next version.

Nico Zwemstra commented on February 12, 2008

Thanks for the great idea! For some reason, while authorizing, Flickr gives an error: invalid API-key/signature. It would be awesome if you can fix this. Thanks!

edward commented on February 12, 2008

que buena herramienta, ahora fácilmente podré levantar mis fotos, gracias por tan util aplicación

berri commented on February 12, 2008

yeah, good idea diagg... but it's better inside firefox ;-))

berri commented on February 12, 2008

sorry adam! BIG utility for a flickr-maniac.. THANK'S..

Chuck commented on February 12, 2008

Hi Adam, I just download this great software but I just can't make it work. My main suspect is the language of my OS, which is spanish (:S don't ask why) All I get is the window asking for authorization, but when I press the button, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Peter commented on February 13, 2008

Great idea, but how about a "send to flickr" that works with a whole folder of pictures that will make a set with the folder name as well? that would be awesome!

sesebian commented on February 13, 2008

Thanks

Adam Lyttle commented on February 13, 2008

Great idea Peter, the next version will definitely have this feature!

ontelo commented on February 16, 2008

Hi! Would you like to release the source? Or make this opensource. It would be marvelous, because I could use it to my upload service.

Adam Lyttle commented on February 16, 2008

Hello ontelo, unfortunately there are no plans on making this tool opensource. It's a simple tool and shouldn't be too difficult for you to build into your application.

Lady Banana commented on February 24, 2008

I think this is brilliant.. perfect for that quick upload! Thank you.. BTW I have blogged about it :)

avinashsonee commented on February 25, 2008

hey, I have installed send to flickr. But, when i click authorize, i am getting an error message saying "ERROR 1". waiting for the solution.

Adam Lyttle commented on February 25, 2008

Hi Avinashsonee, Error 1 means the program cannot connect to the internet. Be sure your internet connection is working and that you do not have a firewall enabled that might be preventing the connection. Additionally, if you need to enter manual proxy settings the program will not work.

petnos commented on March 5, 2008

thats a very good stuff.

Daniel Crane commented on March 9, 2008

Hi Adam when are coming out with the new version I would love to see some of the suggestions implemented.. beautiful concept and program. Daniel

Jon commented on March 12, 2008

How does one change the credentials used by this tool? In other words is it possible to say send to different flickr accounts? There's no user interface for making that change.

Adam Lyttle commented on March 12, 2008

Jon: At the moment the software is only available with 1 account of Flickr. To change accounts I recommend logging in to Flickr using Internet Explorer and changing the account from there. The next time you use Sendto Flickr you will use the new account.

Foxy commented on April 16, 2008

Dude, This extension ROCKS! cant live without it. Thanks!

davin commented on May 22, 2008

This works for me having just installed the official flickr uploadr, thankfully no need for this but great idea
